The Recipe for Long Life, “Wine, Vegetables and Little Meat”
Follow this diet may protect the brain against developing Alzheimer’s disease and other memory problems, because drinking a glass of wine or two a day, as well as large amounts of fruits, vegetables and olive oil, keeping a low consumption red meat, is a recipe for a longer life, according to researchers.
The scientists behind this assertion, conducted a study that is first to identify the individual parts of the diet that contribute most to longevity.
Thus previous research has found that following the diet may protect the brain against developing Alzheimer’s disease and other memory problems, reduce the chances of developing heart disease and even reduce the risk of being diagnosed with cancer.
In the School of Public Health at Harvard, where he conducted the study, researchers identified that “the dominant elements of the Mediterranean diet based on moderate alcohol consumption, mainly in the form of wine during meals, along with low consumption of meat and meat products, high consumption of vegetables, fruits and nuts, olive oil and legumes represent the factors that lead to longevity.”
